Ramón Úbeda and Jaime Hayon, protagonists at the National Innovation and Design Awards 2021, where they've been awarded an Honorable Mention and National Design Award respectively.
The National Innovation and Design Awards 2021 has recognized and honorably mentioned our Art Director, Ramón Úbeda. The award is granted by the Spanish Government’s Ministry of Science and Innovation, "for exceptionally representing the importance and significance of research, disclosure, strategic management, communication and the generation of quality content as fundamental pillars of the Design ecosystem.
As a journalist, graphic designer, product designer, artistic director for different companies and curator of exhibitions of international relevance for more than 35 years in his professional carreer, Úbeda is undoubtedly one of the most prominent creators, contributing to the success of Spanish design in the world, to which can be added the importance of his figure in the field of ecodesign and climate-neutral materials".

Ramón started working for BD in 1997, and since 1999 he is responsible for all the designs that we develop and market. Amongst them are the designs for Jaime Hayon, that form part of our catalogue starting back in 2006.
Coincidentally, Hayon was also awarded the very same edition of the National Design Award in 2021, "as an unquestionable reference of Spanish design on an international level and one of the best ambassadors in a wide variety of areas, where lighting stands out, furniture, habitats and the designs for public spaces, on the basis of a virtuous communion between design, sculpture, craftsmanship and interior design. A paradigmatic example of artist-designer, with an indisputable trajectory of more than twenty years at the forefront of projects of global impact, Hayon has left his unmistakable hallmark of creativity, quality artistic cunning and originality in featured collaborations with leading companies".
These awards are the recognition most important in Spain in the field of innovation and design. The objective is to distinguish those persons and entities (institutions and organisations) that have made innovation an imperative element in the development strategy and business growth. In addition, it is about awarding professionals and companies that have contributed significantly to the growth in the prestige of Spanish design and the entities that, incorporating it into their business strategy, have shown that design is a powerful lever for innovation and competitiveness.
