A dentist by profession, doctor Jordi Badia became a designer when he collaborated with the industrial designer Otto Canalda on the radical Binaria stool.
Doctor Jordi Badía was born in Barcelona in 1959, studied and graduated cum laude from the University of Barcelona with a PhD in medicine. He also studied architecture at Barcelona’s Escuela Técnica Superior de Arquitectura and had persistent lumbago, which led him to collaborate with the designer Otto Canalda to design the Binaria stool. It had immediate success, was rewarded with a Silver Delta ADI-FAD award in 2005, and led to a disappearance of his lower back pain.
