The work of Konstantin Grcic is characterised by careful research and refined results, as well as a minimalist style with considered simplicity.
Grcic was born in 1965 and trained as a cabinet maker at the John Makepeace School for Craftsmen in Wood before studying design at the Royal College of Art in London. He set up his office in Munich in 1991, now based in Berlin, operating among diverse fields, including exhibition and industrial design to architectural collaborations. He has worked with names like Aeance, Authentics, Cassina, ClassiCon, Flötotto, Flos, Galerie Kreo, Kettal, Laufen, Magis, Muji, Nespresso, Plank, Smart, Vitra and BD.
His meticulous attention to detail is shown in his designs: they have utilitarian elegance and sharp angular forms. His extensive research and use of technology have placed him in the permanent collections of numerous museums across the globe, and he has won numerous international awards for his beautifully functional designs.
