The Calvet Bench merges ornamental carving with creative curves in a varnished oak body. It highlight’s Gaudí’s love for quality and material in a comfortable frame. The bench was designed following his construction of Casa Calvet and was originally located in the Board Room. It is hand-crafted and configured to fit two or three sitters, smoothly spreading an oak bench across four supporting and tapered legs. A fluid frame holds the backrest to the seat and curving into swirling armrests. Gaudí’s ornamental carvings horizontally spread three floral motifs. They create a symmetry, aligning the proportions of the bench and emphasising the lightness and slender dimensions of the bench.
