Informed by his 1994 Columnata design, Oscar Tusquets brings us the Peristylo shelf.
It is a simple shelving system ideal for book-lovers and anyone who enjoys such compositional and symbolic harmony. 'Peristylo' derives from the Greek Peristyle, a structure surrounded by columns. Tusquets created a structure both efficient and sculptural. These columns appear recurrently in Tusquets’ paintings and encase own home. The Peristylo is embedded both in the faraway past and in the designer's personal history. And they return again in the Peristylo, encasing the horizontal planks and running upwards into Doric capitals. Available in four sizes, the shelf is modular and can be free-standing, wall-hung, or organised in various combinations. Dense columns can meet a stable baseboard and pass through shelves.
